Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) include gas, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation. Most people with irritable bowel syndrome also have something known as a FODMAP intolerance and find that many foods, especially certain plant foods, make their symptoms worse.

IBS can be caused by gut imbalances (dysbiosis), leaky gut (intestinal hyperpermeability), and poor digestion. In addition, many people who struggle with IBS actually have Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) as a root cause of their IBS.

I treat IBS by addressing the underlying cause. I may suggest testing, such as the GI Map stool test to help determine the root cause of your IBS. Treatment for IBS includes diet, lifestyle, and targeted supplementation to correct gut imbalances and heal the gut lining.
